A mix-up involving Mr. Collins compels Alex to offer for Miss Darcy despite that his heart belongs to another.
Like many, many other women and a few discriminating men I love the novel Pride and Prejudice. Lots of reasons, in fact. Here are eight Pride and Prejudice inspired novels to put on your to-read list. Links used are Amazon affiliate links. Then, while Darcy is away at Pemberly, Geogiana invites Lizzy to stay with her in London, where she remains as a houseguest once Darcy returns.
This book is lots of fun as Darcy struggles with his feelings seeing Lizzy in his own home. Unequal Affections by Lara S. What if she instead asks for time to consider his proposal, giving Darcy time to woo her.
What I like most about this book is that we get to see hundreds of pages of interactions between Lizzie and Darcy, which ends up being dare I say much more satisfying than the quick resolution in the original novel. We get to see him nervous when he realizes he loves Lizzy more than she loves him. And we get to see him decide to change in order to win her. Only Mr. Bennett dies shortly after Darcy and Bingley leave Netherfield, meaning Darcy never gets a chance to propose to Lizzy or explain his actions.
She goes to work as a governess, never expecting to see Darcy again, until the family she works for happens into his social circle in London. What ensues is a very sweet story of Lizzie and Darcy getting to know each other under different circumstances and falling in love. I found book 2 which covers the time Darcy and Lizzy are separated a little less compelling than books 1 and 3, but the entire trilogy is definitely worth a read.
Death Comes to Pemberley by P. The story picks up 6 years after Lizzie and Darcy are married, and centers around a murder which takes place on the grounds of Pemberly. Let me know about them in the comments! Thank you for sharing. A couple of these titles are new to me though, so thank you, I can add them to my reading list!
Personally I like the sequels and other points of view stories much better then the modern-day adaptions. But to each their own! It is impossible to pick a favorite. Thank you a lot for posting! I wish I had read it 6 month before — it would have spared me a lot of time with worthless novels. A hilariously funny read.
She has written several but my favorites are probably her earlier ones. It retells the story from his POV. It reads like a diary of sorts. I love them!! And I love the Sense and Sensibility continuation also…. I like the books you recommended. Her writing style has the Austenesque flair that made me fall in love with the books in the first place.
I also liked it because it depicted Darcy and Elizabeth in their married lives as well as addresses what may happen to Georgiana should she fall in love. It was a great read and I highly recommend it. First, clear your schedule….. Or, apparently, you can just buy them all! First off, you need to watch the Lizzie Bennet Diaries on Youtube. They are amazing! Secondly, one of my favorite spin offs of Pride and Prejudice is the mystery series by Carrie Bebris.
The series is called Mr. Darcy Mysteries. Pride and prejudice and zombies was a great retelling. Really funny, and still true to the original. Thanks for the list, a couple sound intriguing. Great list! I especially love the Pamela Aiden series, so beautifully written.
In just a few days my own Austen fanfic book will be out! Here is the goodreads link. Thank you! His Good Opinion: A Mr. Darcy Novel by Nancy Kelley is one of the better ones I have read. I second Haunting Mr. Darcy Very unique plot where Elizabeth is a ghost in Mr. Highly entertaining and imaginative.
I felt the characters stayed very true to themselves and the dialogue between ODC is superbly done. This is one of my all time favorite spin offs, and no worries it does end with a HEA.
This is my all-time favorite Georgiana and I really like her characterization of Kitty as well. The first one is Pemberley Chronicles. Barnes and Noble carries them. Thanks for your list — I now have a few more to track down! I love any and all variations, sequels, and adaptations by Ayr Bray. Her books are amazing.
My favorites are Scent of Desire and Threat of Scandal along with her new Pemberley collection of little series books. Pamela Aidan was seriously faithful to canon, even in the part where Darcy is being a prig. Several of your listed books are also favorites of mine: Houseguest and Unequal Affections.
Share this:. Comments Thank you for sharing. I need to read the rest of them! I agree! I also love books by Linda Berdoll and Abigail Reynolds.
Honored to be included. Hard to believe that the series is over 10 years old now! Also, I loved The sequel My dearest Darcy which tells of their honeymoon. Bright red blood ran from his nose like a faucet, gushing down the front of his suit and onto the carpet. It caught him in the arm, but with enough force that James reeled backwards into a lamp on a table, smashing both. A couple of burly men in leather jackets grabbed them and said.

A Truth Universally Acknowledged? Although characterizations and plot elements can vary between instantiations, audiences may experience a sense of homecoming when engaging anew with the fictional world. Fitzwilliam Darcy , generally referred to as Mr. Darcy , is one of the two central characters in Jane Austen 's novel Pride and Prejudice. He is an archetype of the aloof romantic hero , and a romantic interest of Elizabeth Bennet , the novel's protagonist. The story's narration is almost exclusively from Elizabeth's perspective; the reader is given a one-sided view of Darcy for much of the novel, but hints are given throughout that there is much more to his character than meets the eye. The reader gets a healthy dose of dramatic irony as Elizabeth continually censures with some prejudice Mr. Darcy's character despite the aforementioned hints via the narrative voice and other characters' observations that Mr. Darcy is really a noble character at heart, albeit somewhat prideful.
