The specific nature of the cultures of the Horn of Africa: the intricate geographical and ethnic contrasts and dynamic history marked by the flowering of an ancient civilisation and Christian kingdom, alongside the enduring commercial and cultural encounters between intercontinental peoples, have grasped the attention of Europeans over an extensive period of time. The different cultural influences that concentrated in North-East Africa brought about the emergence of specific art traditions that are reflected in the decorative form — jewellery. The Jewellery of Ethiopia exhibition which will open at the MAA by the end of October, will exhibit original objects of adornment of the different ethnic groups in Ethiopia. Besides traditional materials that have been used for centuries in these parts, such as: silver, gold, bronze, ivory and amber, visitors will also have the opportunity to discover an array of forms and types of jewellery — necklaces, bracelets, earrings, crosses, amulets belonging to the decorative heritage of the Ethiopian peoples. Alongside artefacts from Ethiopia, the exhibition will be complemented with documentary photographs from the ies. The importance of this exhibition was that it gathered at one point the majority of artifacts of the ancient Ethiopian culture that were housed in different Belgrade collections; however, even more than that — the comprehensive text in the catalogue and documentation that presented existing immovable monuments opened a chapter into one of the oldest civilizations of the African continent.
Ethiopian art from the 4th century until the 20th can be divided into two broad groupings. First comes a distinctive tradition of Christian art, mostly for churches, in forms including painting , crosses , icons , illuminated manuscripts , and other metalwork such as crowns. Secondly there are popular arts and crafts such as textiles, basketry and jewellery , in which Ethiopian traditions are closer to those of other peoples in the region. Its history goes back almost three thousand years to the kingdom of D'mt. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has been the predominant religion in Ethiopia for over years, for most of this period in a very close relation, or union, with the Coptic Christianity of Egypt , so that Coptic art has been the main formative influence on Ethiopian church art. Prehistoric rock art comparable to that of other African sites survives in a number of places, and until the arrival of Christianity stone stelae , often carved with simple reliefs, were erected as grave-markers and for other purposes in many regions; Tiya is one important site. The "pre-Axumite" Iron Age culture of about the 5th century BCE to the 1st century CE was influenced by the Kingdom of Kush to the north, and settlers from Arabia , and produced cities with simple temples in stone, such as the ruined one at Yeha , which is impressive for its date in the 4th or 5th century BCE.

Our collection was assembled over the past years, firstly by the British Museum and India Office Libraries, and since by the British Library. The manuscripts were acquired through donation and purchase, and also from expeditions and private collectors. The earliest were acquired by the British Museum in as part of the Harley collection, while the largest single acquisition, items formerly belonging to the royal library of the Emperor Tewodoros reigned , was made in following the battle of Magdala. A particular strength are the Ethiopian magical and divinatory scrolls.

Cultural heritage could be described as a record of the genius of human beings. The legacy of artefacts, antiquities, sacred places as rituals, traditions and living expressions could be seen as unintelligible foot print left behind for the next generations to mark our path through this world. At the present there are many complex legal cases on cultural heritage waiting to be settled.

Северная Дакота - вовсе не отсылка к названию американского штата, это соль, которой он посыпал их раны. Он даже предупредил АНБ, подбросив ключ, что NDAKOTA - он. Это имя так просто превращается в Танкадо.
